Purpose of the Role
The 2D Graphic Artist could potentially be involved in all areas of the artwork for various mobile games including menus, backgrounds, tiles and animation. The position requires a mastery of 2D pixel art for development of games for mobile phones and handhelds (GBA, PSP, NDS), as well as related marketing assets. The candidate should have a natural ability to create artwork in a variety of graphic styles (from cartoon to photorealistic) and true passion for video games. We are looking for a person who can inject an original game concept with a coherent and sophisticated artistic vision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Create art for mobile games, including menus, backgrounds, tiles and animation.
Create marketing assets from games.
Some experience in the gaming/interactive entertainment industry. A strong portfolio, passion for games and the willingness to learn could be considered a substitute for industry experience.
Professional experience with Photoshop/Fireworks and expertise in creating art assets for low-resolution environments.
Must be able to create original characters and environments according to game design specifications.
Must have strong environmental and animation skills (must be able to animate smooth 2d characters).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a professional environment.
Strong overall artistic skills, with particular emphasis on sense of color, environments, character design and animation.
Graphic design and typography skills
First-hand industry knowledge of 2D art production (3D art experience is a plus).
Previous experience in the mobile sector a plus.
Must be able to meet schedules and artistic guidelines on time.
Must have good work ethic and require little supervision.
Ability to rapidly learn and assimilate new technologies.
Four-year university degree from a fine arts or graphic design school is preferred.
