• To ensure a controlled environment for the finance team to prevent potential erroneous or deliberate misdirection of funds.
• To manage the finance and planning and reporting team, statutory and management reporting on all BASS Europe activities and income/costs.
• To manage the statutory audit relationship with internal / external auditors on behalf of BASS Europe.
• To ensure the necessary funding is in place for BASS Europe and manage the cash position and required loans.
• To ensure the robust control environment of BASS Europe by managing the business risk by implementing policies, procedures.
• To be actively involved in promoting the right culture for the financial shared service centre.
• To be an active member of the Leadership Team ensuring that the commercial realities of proposals are understood by all.
• Develop, train and coach the finance and legal teams, including performance appraisals, career management and development processes.
• To manage the finance team to deliver the efficient and effective reporting of BASS Europe financial position and to maintain a high quality control environment. Alongside adherence to the applicable Romanian tax regime and within any voluntary codes of best practice BAT has signed up for.
• To be responsible for the management reporting on all financial and compliance activities.
• To maintain the integrity of BASS Europe ledgers in a controlled environment.
• To ensure the delivery of indirects and productivity saving targets.
• To pro-actively manage customer relationships on an ongoing basis through periodic fees vs cost reviews and to ensure that value is being continuosly improved through challenge of performance levels versus potential.
• To actively participate in and promote the Management Team’s Strategic Leadership Agenda for the better running of the business of BASS Europe as a whole.
• Development of the regular reporting packs that are meaningful for the management team and ensures that correct fact-based decision making is possible.
• To support ad hoc local, regional and global driven initiatives which relate to Finance-related activities, eg business case tracking, cost centre accounting and project accounting.
• Be a contructive challenge to all the functions regarding allocation of financial resources by countinous cost control mechanisms.
• The jobholder should be a qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with very solid experience and a strong base in financial accounting.
• The incumbent should have knowledge of critical controls, procedures and relevant policies, as well as knowledge of VAT and tax legislation.
• He/she should be self-motivated, apply high professional standards and be capable of bringing a strong focus on internal customer service levels to the role.
• A good knowledge of SAP is required with an understanding of how BAT makes use of the system. A detailed understanding of the relationship with other departments and how their work impacts on the sub ledgers is also essential.
• Good commercial awareness, and very good understanding of key interfaces.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and motivational skills are essential
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior and other levels of staff in all departments and companies both within the Group and externally.
