Basic lighting levels calculations within rooms using Dialux software;
• Prepare services drawings for electrical infrastructure, lighting, small power, fire alarm systems, security and IT containment etc. in 2D or 3D as required;
• Prepare electrical panels schematics;
• Prepare bill of quantities;
• Basic electrical calculations;
• Follow in full the QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are prepared, issued, filed and archived in an appropriate manner, in accordance with the company’s QA protocols
Further responsibilities include:
• Work within electrical discipline team assisting with design and technical advice on projects lead by others;
• Assist in the completion of detailed designs;
• Contribute to feasibility reports under the supervision of others;
• Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and contribute to the overall feasibility study for the project;
• Assist in the production of detailed equipment schedules for issue with the discipline specific design;
• Understand the need for detailed calculations and through training and mentorship, become proficient in both long hand and software methods of calculation related to their discipline;
• Promote sustainability and energy efficiency within your designs and discuss the appropriate systems to implement with the senior team members;
• Accompany and assist others carrying out condition surveys for the discipline for combining into to an overall report;
• Accompany others visiting sites as required to gain an understanding of the quality of the installation process allied to the discipline;
• Be able to demonstrate acceptable technical writing skills;
• Work in co-ordination with all other design team members whether internal of external;
• Attend design team meetings as an observer;
• Understand the limits of our duties under any commission;
• Develop an understanding of project risk allied to the discipline and flag these to the WSP project leader;
• Implement the WSP QA procedures under the direction on the WSP project manager and fully understanding our WoW process at a project delivery level;
• Check your own work for compliance with good practice and the project brief;
• Present your work to the WSP project leader for approval prior to issue;
• Develop an understanding of project costs and the impact of designs on the overall budget for the scheme;
• Develop an understanding of maintenance and installation practices within the design.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies;
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to the Line Manager;
• Complete accurate time-sheets by set deadline;
• Feedback on all business development opportunities;
• Demonstrate awareness of project risk issues, flagging potential problems to project leader.
• Demonstrate awareness of company’s corporate values.
• Demonstrate sound work ethics in respect of the company’s principles.
• Report to the Line Manager any issues that may affect the effective delivery of projects on agreed deadlines, the quality of the projects or any other points likely to affect the company’s image;
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering/Building services or similar
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience of designing electrical systems in a variety of building types
• Project experience should include participation from the design phase through the final construction close-out
• Working knowledge of design capability;
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.
Data/IT:
• Very good skills in AutoCAD
• Experience of MagicCAD or similar electrical 3D design software is an advantage
• Good skills in Microsoft Office
• Experience in NavisWorks, Solibri or Revit is an advantage but not a requirement.
• Basic electrical calculation knowledge
• Basic experience in lighting calculations (Dialux)
Personal qualities:
• Ability to work in a team and demonstrate work and moral ethics
• Ability to respect deadlines and achieve targeted results whilst working individually
• Very good verbal and written communication skills in the English language
• Experience of the Swedish market is an advantage
• Special consideration will be given to candidates who speak Swedish
• Good knowledge of European building and energy codes
• Availability to travel
