The role: Monitoring Analyst
The role is for an offshore member of our Monitoring Team.
We use a Product predominantly from Nimsoft which is an application that has a probe deployed and configured on all the equipment we manage.
The role is exposed to all of our customer base and pretty much all of the technologies that we have deployed.
We are looking for someone with good all round IT skills who is comfortable within a Windows Operating System environment and preferably also understands the Linux or Unix environment and can navigate around - which will lead on to HP-UX or AIX as required.
As the role is around Monitoring and alerting - an understanding of the key metrics of a server that determine health of the machine and an awareness of the types and method of erroring that could occur would be valuable.
Workload is driven from 2 main areas:
Support, which ensures the smooth running of the monitoring platform and also ensures that alerts have been logged correctly for resolution by specialist teams (ensuring nothing is forgotten)
And also Projects - which is implementation of new managed infrastructure to the environment and making sure the monitoring is setup correctly and in agreed time-scales and manners to ensure a quality managed service can be delivered on-going.
The successful candidate will be conscientious and reliable, making sure documentation is completed accurately and on time to ensure that the integrity of the monitoring platform is maintained.
The candidate should have good analytical problem solving skills to analyse where an issue occurs what areas the problem is evident in and hence what the root cause of any issue is.
The role is expected to be predominantly office hours Mon-Fri with some overtime as required. Overseas travel (to the UK) will be required ad-hoc to attend training or other specific project/ team requirements.
There may be a possibility of on-call (out of hours cover) being required in the future on a rota basis.
