The Production Planner is responsible for defining and following weekly production planning.
This production planner will be working with the production supervisor to follow daily progress of the schedule.
The production planner will also work with the warehouse to ensure optimum level of materials is provided.
Responsibilities:
•Create a weekly production plan to ensure on time delivery to customer;
•Launch and print weekly work orders
•Provide copy of the weekly production plan to the Section Managers & Operation Manager;
•Record the daily production completed and adjusts the daily program to ensure 100% service rate at the end of the week.
•Maintain a log of all incidents that occur during the day to explain the effectiveness on production
•Communicate the results and comments to the rest of the team at the end of the day
•Keep daily report on work-on-progress and efficiency
•Provide weekly updates to customers and react to changing demands of production.
•Responsible for completing and maintaining reports to track and improve production or scheduling as necessary.
•Participate actively in the resolution of problems and improvements of the process by bringing ideas and proposals to the team
•Collaborate with senior management, demand planning, sales and marketing to interpret the demand requirements of the business (volume, mix, trends, timing) into implications for production capacity over the short and medium term horizon
•Collaborate with senior management, manufacturing, cover sourcing, and procurement to develop and balance production capacity to meet demand requirements
•Develop the annual production plan for the business and gain approval from senior operations management – review monthly plant production plan and recommend plan adjustments
•Interact with management on identifying and resolving key production capacity issues
•Review New Product introductions/development and the Promotion Calendar to ensure that production can support all program requirements
•Monitor all plant production capacities in relation to the production plan and daily loads, which may include:
o Weekly production planning updates with senior operations management;
o Participation in production activity control;
o Analyzing production data and open capacity reports to allocate plant resources effectively;
o Reviewing daily production and backlog information to control “overload” or “past due” situations;
o Monitoring introduction of new items/products to minimize disruption to normal production schedules;
o Working with Section Managers to ascertain if the established plan is being met or if problems are anticipated.
•Keep up-to-date on issues related to sales forecast, manufacturing, planning, new product introductions, line fill rates, metrics, and other related supply chain issues
•Provide reports, as required
•Continually enhance departmental efficiencies through process improvement
•Generate weekly and monthly KPIs on production capacity.
Desired Skills and Experience
•Production planning and scheduling experience ;
•Focus and organized, strong analytical skills;
•Inventory management experience;
•Effective communication skills - including verbal, written, and presentation;
•Team-oriented to fit in a collaborative/diverse environment.
•Good computer skills required (MS Office – especially Excel) and good English is a must.
