For our client, a world-leading provider of telecommunications equipment and services, we are looking for a 2nd level Operations BSS engineer.
The engineer will have to provide 2nd level of Support for customer services/applications and 3rd level of support escalation; he will be responsible for keeping the performance of service/application resources at optimum level by ensuring that problems are detected and corrected according to agreed KPI and predicting future degradations.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To act on relevant problems escalated from the Front Office surveillance team so that resource problems are remedied or escalated to corresponding system support units according with defined SLA.
- Follow the cases with the system support units till they provide a viable solution for each case.
- Closely following of case life cycle and regular updates performed in ticketing application.
- Daily checks of HW/SW under responsibility.
- Regular reports creation.
- Proactive daily verifications and solving of found issues.
- Ensure that operational procedures are up to date. New operational procedures constantly created.
- Taking under responsibility, monitoring of changes introduced to Services/Applications and keep functionality under control.
- To contribute in the creation and improvements to procedures and routines within the department.
- Part of HW/SW integration team in customer network.
- Operation & Maintenance of customer services/applications.
- Remote delivery.
- Performing 24x24 on-call shifts.
Required skills:
- Knowledge of servers HW/SW and their characteristics in BSS networks area (e.g. TCP/IP, UNIX, Sun Solaris, EMA, EMM, Charging System: IVR, CCN, CRS, SDP, AIR and VS) or similar BSS knowledge on Huawei, Nokia or Alcatel.
- Basic knowledge of real time charging and how provisioning is done in a network.
- Basic knowledge of the protocols used in the BSS area: SS7, Diameter, GSM network architecture, SQL language and/or UNIX operating system commands.
- English language.
- Knowledge of resource availability indicators and their interpretation.
- Knowledge of network implementation/integration processes.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Flexible and responsive to changing work patters and demands.
- Able to work as a member of a team and lead junior staff.
- Open approach to solving problems.
- Methodical approach to work.
- Must be able to work to tight timelines.
- Analytical and investigative abilities.
- Willing to learn.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering/Telecommunication Engineering/Computer science or equivalent.
- Experience in Operation and Maintenance of telecom networks.
- The following would be an advantage:
o 3G network experience;
o Shell scripting, Perl scripting and UNIX administration represent an advantage;
o Spanish, French, Italian, German skills.
