The Product Manager within the Online Business unit of Avira will be responsible for driving key online products from ideas to a successful revenue earning engine in the market place. The job is based in Munich, Germany or Bucharest, Romania.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Market research on evolution of the products in the industry and bring new ideas and check feasibility of for execution.
Work with the design and engineering teams to ensure best user experience.
Roadmap management and project planning to ensure the timelines stick.
Coordinate and work with third party partners for successful integration when necessary.
Work on the products that support the online monetization and product management units.
Liaise with other departments within the organization wherever a roadmap dependency is identified.
Coordination of both technical and non-technical tasks.
Support Online Monetization team to ensure availability of systems that drive the revue generation
Liaise with Online Monetization teams to chart out a GTM plan for your products.
Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create effective feature roadmap.
Ideall do a bit of coding, in tandem with the engineering team.
Thinking strategically about algorithmic uses of data and impact on business processes – and how usage interacts with data design.
Visualizing and reporting findings creatively.
Work in a team-oriented environment.
A secondary objective of these roles is to develop a deep Online bench and top leadership talent.
You should have a minimum of a BS or an MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. You get extra credit for having contributed to an open source project orcompleted a PhD degree. A minimum of 3 or more years experience in an online consumer company.

Run-time nosql standards like Hadoop, MR, HBase, Couch, Mahout.
Languages like Perl, Bash, C#, Ruby, JavaScript, XML, JSON, etc.
Release management tools (e.g., Maven, Jenkins).
Some familiarity with Relational stores like Teradata and MySql.
You’ve achieved previous success in a performance-critical environment, and can accelerate that success within Avira’s data infrastructure and applications team.
Must be able to demonstrate an interest in consumer applications and be willing to be very hands on to develop new applications and algorithms in continuous release mode.
A team player with strong communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills is imperative. Must also have a proven ability to develop vibrant working relationships at multiple levels.
Some travel (10-25%) is required.
Security, Internet or e-commerce industry experience is a plus. University degree in information technology/engineering. MBA would also be an added advantage.
You have 3 or more years’ experience in product management; preferably working with online business environment.
Entrepreneurial mindset, proven ability to drive and deliver results.
Strong analytic capabilities: statistical knowledge in the context of user profiling on distributed systems. Experience with data-science technologies and a BI application is advantageous. Hadoop, Mahout and Couch especially.
Excellent communication, presentation skills and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and resources, including offshore teams.
Must be a self-driven and motivated about getting results fast and finding permanent solutions later.
Strong interest in learning latest technologies and model agile processes.
Ability to cope with changes and adapt to the changing market situations.
Experience with security products/companies is a plus.
Excellent written and spoken English.
