Job Purpose:
Design and implement safety software solutions for the railway field.
The simulation team is developing and maintaining automated test solutions at product and system level for various areas in the Thales Rail Signalling area.
The test solutions are consisting out of a bundling of smaller components, most of which are called simulators, having the purpose of testing a module on a specific interface.
Aside from simulators we also deliver virtualization solutions, wrappers and wizards that contribute to the delivery of complete test or training environments.
Job summary
Define the architectural solutions on subsystem level
Design, Implementation/Coding and Unit/Module testing
Maintain existing product features, resolve issues and fix bugs
Documentation
Regular progress reporting

Professional competency
Education:
Computer science graduates (Automatics and Computers Faculty, Informatics, Faculty of Cybernetics)
Requested technical competences:
Strong knowledge of Java language (J2SE)
Knowledge of OOD (Design Patterns) and UML
Experience of full project lifecycle: design and documentation, development, unit testing, refactoring, deployment and maintenance.
Flexibility to learn/work with new programming/scripting languages and different technologies/OS
Would be a plus:
Eclipse RCP plug-in development
Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping technologies
Experience with Eclipse RCP plug-in development
Experience with XML technologies (JAXB, DOM, XSD, etc.)
Knowledge of Clearcase / Subversion, ClearQuest or DOORS
Understanding of XML, schemas (XSD) and transforms (XSLT)
Knowledge of C or C++ programming languages
Personal competencies
Intercultural communication, including the empathy to work in an international team
Team-working
Solution oriented while being open to embrace new technologies
Flexibility and availability to travel abroad from time to time
Languages:
Fluency in English
