Job Description:
A systems analyst designs new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity. The work might be for an external client or an internal client (such as a department within the same organisation).
Working closely with the client, analysts examine existing business models and flows of data, discuss their findings with the client, and design an appropriate improved IT solution.
They produce outline designs and costings of new IT systems, specifying the operations the system will perform, and the way data will be viewed by the user, present their design to the client and, once it is approved, work closely with the client team to implement the solution.
Responsabilities
Work activities involve:
liaising extensively with external or internal clients;
analysing clients' existing systems;
translating client requirements into highly specified project briefs (through use cases and functional specifications, application and database design);
identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability;
creating logical and innovative solutions to complex problems;
drawing up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems;
producing project feasibility reports;
presenting proposals to clients;
working closely with developers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction;
ensuring that budgets are adhered to and deadlines met;
drawing up a testing schedule for the complete system;
overseeing the implementation of a new system;
planning and working flexibly to a deadline;
writing user manuals;
providing training to users of a new system;
keeping up to date with technical and industry sector developments.
Profile Required:
University Degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline.
Should have a minimum of 5 years of technology experience in the field and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications.
Technical experience with systems networking, databases, Web development, and user support.
Good background in Data Base design.
Working with IBM and/or Oracle software/hardware products (Tivoli, Rational, Infosphere, Weblogic, Service Bus).
Background in software development is required.
Working knowledge of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect or similar products
Working knowledge of RUP/OUM methodology is a plus.
Project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities;
Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.
Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
A results oriented individual who thrives working in a fast paced environment.
Technical certifications is a plus.
