This is a hybrid role focused on activities and responsibilities 'around' the Software Development and is designed to facilitate team productivity. This role is a combination of the following industry-standard roles:
Software Configuration Management: owns the process to track vendors‘software changes to change tickets and determining which revision of which veersion to include in a particular application deployment
Software Build Management: owns the process to assemble assets into a deployable package (Build), and coordinates with the Infrastructure Administration Team who deploys the Builds
Continuous Integration Admin: owns the process around Continuous Integration Build/Deploy/Test
Tool Admin: administration for various tools used by the Software Development Team, including Issue Tracker (JIRA), Wiki (Confluence), Source Code Control, etc.
Tool Development: development or customization of other tools to enhance Development & Support productivity-e.g. perform repetitive operational tasks, assist with information gathering for debugging/diagnostics, operational 'dashboard' for status monitoring & reporting, etc.
Develop support tools to assist in diagnosis and troubleshooting of production support issues
Develop monitoring and reporting tools to assist in monitoring and understanding application operations
Configuration and Build management for application releases:
Perform builds based on team needs including full builds and patches
Request deployment authorizations from team leadership for tools, vendors’ software patches
Track which revisions of software artifacts to be deployed
Coordinate with Infrastructure Administration team for deployment of application patches & releases to various environments for various applications
Continuously improve Source Code Management & Build tools and processes
Process optimization through the automation of manual tasks
Review new tools for their applicability within the team.
Administration and maintenance of testing lab environment
- Remote development environments: Citrix, VDI, VMWare
- Software packaging: Microsoft SSCM
- Oracle Tools: Forms, Reports, SQL Navigator/Developer, BI Publisher
- Java Tools: Eclipse, SVN, Ant, Maven, Cruise Control
- OS: Windows, Linux
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline or a comparable qualification
Excellent ability to communicate in English language verbally and in writing
Excellent organization skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders
