Project description:
You will have the opportunity to work together with one of the biggest companies in their industry. You will have the opportunity to work in a Scrum of Scrums environment, where leadership is required but also offered, by the senior team. The team will work sequentially on a set of Java projects from the customer’s large stack of existing projects around their large online payment processing portal. Example: The first project was a pilot that required enhancing an API and Editor Tool to allow end users to correctly create, customize and brand a sub-set of mobile web pages that are part of a payment engine.
You will:
• Produce components of detailed designs, such as: physical data flows, class diagrams, file layouts, common routines and utilities, program specifications or prototypes, and backup, recovery and restart procedures.
• Document all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
• Assist as part of a team on design of components of larger systems.
• Acquire a proper understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its component parts and identifying the relationships between these parts, selecting the appropriate method/tool to resolve the problem and reflecting on the result, such that learning is identified and absorbed.
• Design, code, test, correct and document moderately complex programs and program modifications from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools.
• Conduct reviews of supplied specifications, with others as appropriate. Takes part in reviews of the work of colleagues.
• Familiar with methods and techniques for making effective use of own time.
• Work under general supervision. Uses discretion in identifying and resolving complex problems and assignments. Specific instruction is usually given and work is reviewed at frequent milestones. Determines when problems should be escalated to a higher level.
• Good knowledge and experience of Java 1.6 EE, JSP
• Experience in DB Development (ideally with Sybase DB)
• Good knowledge and experience in using Tomcat, Apache, web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, XML, CSS)
• Familiar with Agile Development, Scrum Methodology
• Familiar with commercial applications, within the financial domain
