Purpose:
Liaise with European business process and internal controls owners to conduct controls testing to meet internal Corporate policy and operational requirements and externally, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements as a US listed company. Report compliance status and improvement recommendations to management and project manage agreed improvement actions. Any other ad hoc compliance activities as required.
Scope / Primary Responsibilities:
1. Manage the quarterly internal controls self-assessments program for the Shared Accounting Services teams in Europe.
• Issue and coordinate the submission of controls self-assessments in the workflow tool.
• Validate the self-assessments based on the evidence provided and communication with controls owners.
• Work with the controls owners to document and update process descriptions in the workflow tool.
• Work with the controls owners to remediate non-compliance.
• Recommend process and controls improvements as appropriate.
2. Take part in the annual SOX testing week in France.
3. Manage the annual UK Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) certification process.
• Coordinate the submission of process and controls documents from the process owners of the UK entities.
• Validate the controls described based on the evidence provided and communication with process owners.
• Work with the process owners to address controls gaps.
• Recommend process and controls improvements as appropriate.
• Prepare summary document for review with the UK SAO and Tax Team.
4. Manage the international business travel declaration process.
• Liaise with various colleagues to obtain international business travel declaration process once every two calendar quarters. This date is used to validate the tax status of frequent business travelers.
5. Manage the European monthly accounting checklist process.
• Coordinate the submission of monthly checklists.
• Validate the responses in the submissions and prepare the summary document for review with the European Accounting Controller.
6. Any other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance or MBA
Preferred Accounting Certification
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Competent with advanced features & database functionality of Microsoft Excel and Access
Excellent planning and organizing skills
Effective communications skills, strong business acumen and financial skills
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team oriented environment
