Join a writing team dedicated to helping software developers be more productive using rapid application development tools. Edit technical English for Help systems. Mentor writers and help them improve their English technical writing skills.
Responsibilities and Activities
• Edit help system texts and other documents as needed
• Ensure correct English grammar
• Ensure technical writing styles and standards
• Ensure that the English style follows best practices for future translation
• Mentor and teach English and technical writing standards to the writing team
• Use some or all of the following tools as part of the work:
o XML editor (Oxygen, others)
o HTML editor (Dreamweaver, others)
o Source control (Subversion)
o Defect tracker (Bugzilla, Jira)
Skills and Experience Required
• Graduate degree in English language, literature or journalism or equivalent experience desired
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or equivalent analytical experience
• Experience in writing and editing documents, help, articles, books on technical domain, on computer science and programming is a plus
• Experience using Java and JBuilder is a plus
• Ability to understand computer software documentation is a plus
• Is able to write and communicate clear, concise, correct, technical English
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications or an equivalent style guide is a plus
• Has a passion for showing people how to improve their English
• Enjoys investigating and asking questions
• Experience in writing or editing technical documentation is a plus
